lewis hamilton supposes mercedes are going to find it”difficult to overcome” rejuvenated ferrari in f1’s upcoming races but has backed the world champions to climb into the renewed challenge.
against all expectations in singapore, on a track that needs high downforce – a 2019 ferrari weakness – that the scuderia finished second and first in the race to expand their winning streak to 3 races of sunday – their very best sequence for 11 years.

for only the second time in the previous six seasons, mercedes have suffered three consecutive defeats that were race-day as a result.
and with ferrari now apparently having found a breakthrough by using their car on paths which do not require horse racing betting gamespower – the sf90’s established power – hamilton is expecting a struggle that is consistent.
“i am a realist, therefore i see the problem we are in and they have only come up with some type of upgrade that’s perhaps put their automobile… maybe they have had a good car all year and it simply was not functioning in the ideal window,” said hamilton on sunday night.
“who knows, as it’s unlikely they’ve brought a massive, massive upgrade that is brought 20-30 things [of downforce] to some thing that performance-wise is probably what you would expect they have accepted here.
“but obviously their automobile works very well everywhere now so it is definitely going to be very hard to conquer them, particularly as they’re so fast on the straights. we can’t compete on the straights right now.”
mercedes must’pull our socks up’
regardless of the winning run of ferrari, hamilton and mercedes’ winning type prior to the august summer break means that they stay firmly on course to protect their world titles.
while ferrari runner, leclerc, will be 96 points adrift with 156 points to play for over the last six races hamilton extended his name contribute to 65 points.
“we have won previously with not the very best auto but it’s how we deliver the weekend.
“at this time they are providing better from the operations region. direct and i did enough at the race in the first stint to come out but the processes did not work. so we’ve only got to re-huddle, reunite with them, work and proceed forward”
the world champion added:”of course it has got tighter and tighter as the season has gone on, we work on this, but in exactly the exact identical time we’ve just got to do a better job.
“we’re doing such a terrific job at the start of the year plus we have this difference, but the gap can certainly go. i am under no illusions, my difference in the tournament – it is not won.
“we have got to pull our socks up. we can do better. but we win and lose as a team and most of us don’t feel good right now.”
